LADIES BRUNCH ON SATURDAY!

Ladies, you are invited to Brunch this Saturday, April 1st, at 9:30 a.m., in the Mission and Fellowship Center.  Highlights of this event will include the "Parade of Nations" by our GAs, special music by Hannah James and Linda Stewart,  good food and fellowship, door prizes, and a special message from Phyllis Elvington.  Phyllis' talk will center around "The Praying Woman".  What an inspiring and fun morning it promises to be!  Don't miss out!  (Bring your Bible!)

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE REMINDER

The women of the church will lead the worship service on Sunday, April 2nd.  GAs will participate and a woman's chorus from WCU will bring special music.  Our guest speaker will be Phyllis Elvington, a resident of Green Sea, SC and an active member of Tabor City Baptist Church.  She is the author of 4 books and well known for her energetic, uplifting, and well-prepared Bible studies.  An awesome woman of God who loves to laugh, Phyllis will motivate us and inspire through her message "By All Means".  Invite someone to join you for this special service -- and don't forget to bring your Bible!

Our Pulpit Guest for Sunday, Jan. 15th

Reverend Dana Patrick is a graduate of Western Carolina University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree.  She then attended Campbell University Divinity School where she received her Master of Divinity. Dana has served in a variety of ministry settings including a two year chaplaincy residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She is currently contracted by the SPARC Foundation to offer Resiliency Support for Buncombe County Health and Human Services, offering one-on-one consultation and training for staff who are experiencing secondary trauma or critical incident stress. She lives in Arden, with her husband Charlie, and their three wonderful boys, Zachary, Eli, and Jacob.     

Rev. Patrick will be our pulpit guest this Sunday during worship. Please help us to welcome her warmly to our congregation.

Wednesday, December 14 will be our final Sylva First Wednesday programming until Wednesday, January 11th.

Friday, December 16 at 7:00 PM: 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever' Production, followed by a church-wide Christmas Party and Reception to follow in the Mission and Fellowship Center.

Saturday, December 24 at 5:30 PM: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Sunday, December 25 at 10:30 AM: Christmas Day Worship at First Baptist. Dress casually and bring leftover goodies to share. Also, be sure to bring a favorite Christmas Tree ornament to share about with your church family. There will be no Sunday School or nursery offered.

Christmas Cantata

The Sanctuary Choir of the First Baptist Church of Sylva will present a varied program of Christmas anthems during the 10:30 worship hour on Sunday, December 11.  Directed by Dr. Robert Holquist since 1983, the choir has maintained  a tradition of annual music presentations during this joyous time of year.  The choir will be accompanied by Lorie Meservey, organist, and Linda Stewart, pianist.  Additionally, those in attendance will hear flute and electric bass accompaniment by Sabrina Kumar, and percussion instruments played by Dean Kool and Michael Nichols.  Soloists featured during the program will be Rebecca Mathis in "The Jesus Gift" and Holquist in "Come Unto Me."  Other selections include "Awake, Shepherds, Awake!" "Calypso Noel," and "Do You Hear What I Hear?" You won't want to miss this year's Christmas story in song!
